Despite providing specific output numbers, automakers sometimes make high-performance cars a bit more potent than what they officially announce.

It happened to the previous-gen BMW M5 F10, and it’s happening again, this time to its successor, the F90, which was strapped on a dyno by the guys at Evolve.

Despite being put to the test by a a tuner, the company claims that their M5 F90 is totally stock. This means that the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 is good for 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

The official numbers released by the Bavarian carmaker show that it needs 3.4 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) and 11.1 seconds for the 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) run, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) and can be lifted to 305 km/h (190 mph) with the optional M Driver’s Package.

Now, you may be tempted to say that a couple of extra horses under the hood aren’t such a novelty. However, that’s not the case here, because the modern BMW M5 is not a tad more powerful than advertised, but way more powerful.

In fact, it’s more potent than the M5 Competition, whose V8 makes 625 PS (617 hp / 460 kW), and goes from naught to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.3 seconds, and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.8 seconds.

So, how much horsepower does this particular stock M5 make? Watch the following video and find out.
