SpeedKore is responsible for some truly epic creations, and their latest comes in the form of a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro built for actor Chris Evans that recently paid a visit to Jay Leno’s Garage.
Evans was gifted the SpeedKore Camaro from fellow actor Robert Downey Jr. when filming for the latest Captain America movie wrapped up. As SpeedKore’s Dave Salvaggio explains to Leno, Downey Jr. was heavily involved in the build process and was the one who selected the 1967 Camaro to customize.
Powering the car is an LS3 6.2-liter V8 coupled with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger. All up, the Camaro pumps out 730 hp and sends power to the rear wheels via to a four-speed push-button automatic transmission.
SpeedKore did much more than overhaul the powertrain. To ensure the car can handle all its new-found grunt, there is a Detroit Speed sub-frame up front, four-link rear suspension, and Baer brakes at all four corners.
As for the exterior, it is all new and has been painted in a custom color SpeedKore dubs Grigio Verde, meaning Gray Green in English. It’s an interesting color but works surprisingly well with the classic shape of the Camaro. The vehicle’s interior is also quite exceptional and combines a host of brown and black leather parts with wooden accents and a Captain America logo in the center of the steering wheel.
One more thing: the car is very, very fast, as Leno discovered. However, it’s also very driveable and suits the roads of California perfectly.
