The latest word from Germany is that Opel will release the first official photos of its new city car model on May 8 and that it will not be named Junior or Allegra as originally thought, but Adam, evidently after the founder of the company, Adam Opel.

If the reveal date turns out to be true (we have not yet confirmed the news), these could very well be the last spy shots we get of the prototype model.

Opel’s new upscale city car measures about 3.7 meters long, or roughly the same as the BMW Group’s MINI hatchback and will be offered exclusively as a three-door model with seating for four passengers.

Positioned in the premium mini car segment, the Opel model utilizes a shortened version of the next Corsa’s platform and is likely to be offered with a new generation of fuel-efficient diesel and gasoline engines.

Sources recently stated that Opel might also offer a sportier OPC version with a potent turbocharged gasoline unit to compete against the MINI Coooper and Fiat 500 Abarth models, as well as a battery-powered variant.
