A motorist recently lost control of their car on a freeway in Belgium, impacting the guardrail and flying back towards traffic, flipping over and eventually landing upside down.
The crash took place last weekend on the E19 freeway, which spans all the way from Paris to Amsterdam. While the footage picks up just as the driver is about to lose control, it’s pretty evident that they were already driving at high speed.
Now, unless they fell asleep at the wheel, it’s likely that their attention was somewhere else as the car started drifting wide towards the left side of the road. That’s when the over-correcting happened, sending the crossover on a collision course with the guardrail.
There’s no way of knowing what would have happened if the car hadn’t hit the guardrail, but the most likely outcome would be hitting one of the trees, or posts, that were there. And in this case, maybe it really would have actually been worse to leave the road than hit the barrier.
In the end, it was good to see somebody emerging from the passenger seat of the overturned car, rushing to help the driver. It goes without saying that we hope everyone on board is OK and were just shaken by this rather unfortunate incident.
