Many aspire to own an exotic Italian supercar from Ferrari or Lamborghini but few people actually realize this dream, which probably explains why there are so many replicas circulating in the car market.
We have long established that the vast majority of supercar clones are built on the Pontiac Fiero but occasionally, you will find a vehicle that you don’t normally expect to be used as a base for a replica build.
Mitsubishi’s answer to the Honda/Acura NSX, Toyota Supra and Mazda RX-7 in the 1990s is one of those cars. Ironically, while the coupe was called the GTO in Japan, export models were renamed to 3000GT as Mitsubishi wanted to avoid criticism, since the nameplate was associated to the classic Ferrari 250 GTO (as well as the Pontiac GTO).
Perhaps this is what inspired the owner of this car to turn the 3000GT into something that he or she claims is a replica of the Ferrari F430. While we can certainly spot the Ferrari emblems and stickers inside and out, as much as we tried, we can’t really say that we found any resemblance to the F430.
Nevertheless, by the time we uploaded this post, the car had found a new owner on eBay who sealed the deal for $8,700 (€6,600).
