Even though prototypes of the first-ever Mercedes-AMG A35 have been getting scooped during these past few months, now it appears that the Affalterbach-based brand is stepping up its game by actually teasing us with the car.
Released by the automaker and shared by MBPassionBlong, the images reveal an AMG-branded front grille with a couple of chrome inserts, and LED-infused headlights.
All things considered, it really does look as though this is actually the upcoming A35, a hot hatch that Mercedes will position right underneath the A45, but not before celebrating its world premiere in a couple of weeks, at the 2018 Paris Auto Show.

From previous spy shots, we know that Mercedes-AMG’s rival to the likes of the Audi S3 Sportback will get a sporty exterior aesthetic, making it look more aggressive than your usual A-Class models – albeit toned down compared to the A45 and rumored A45S/A50, with the latter two featuring the Panamericana grille too.
In terms of power, the car should launch with a 2.0-liter four-banger, with turbocharging and EQ Boost technology. The output should be in the region of 300 PS (295 hp / 290 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, just like the assembly found in the latest E350 Coupe and Cabrio.
Performance wise, the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A35 will probably need some 5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), and it’s likely to have an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The quoted source believes that customer orders for the hot hatch will commence shortly after its premiere in Paris, with the first units to be delivered from December.
