There’s a Volkswagen Jetta listed for sale on Autotrader. Which by itself would be no big deal, dozens of them as there are for sale on the platform at any given time. But this, as you can see, is no ordinary Jetta. And there’s nothing ordinary about its price tag, either.
This 1995 VW Jetta GL is the very car that appeared in the first Fast and Furious movie, achieving fame when it lost (and was lost in) a drag race against a modified Honda S2000. And it’s still in the same condition it was when the movie was made now nearly two decades ago.
As you can see, it’s been extensively modified – aesthetically, at any rate. We don’t know if any work was actually done on the engine: a 2.0-liter four with an automatic transmission, if you can believe it. But it evidently wears a full aero kit, upsized alloys on low-profile rubber, splashy graphics, and an interior stripped out and fitted with a roll cage, racing buckets, and an Alpine audio system with an integrated PlayStation 2.
After the producers were done with the car, it was reportedly purchased by Frankie Muniz, the actor-turned-racer perhaps best known for his role in the Fox sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. As reported by CarTests (thanks for the tip, Michal!) and Autotrader‘s own Doug DeMuro, Muniz has held on to it ever since, and barely drove it.
Now it’s listed for sale – and not for the first time – by the Luxury Auto Collection in Scottsdale with an asking price of $99,900. That may seem like a lot for a ’95 Jetta, but maybe not so much for a car with this kind of star power… not to mention the autographs of the late Paul Walker, his co-star Chad Lindberg (who played Jesse in the movie), and director Rob Cohen.
