Nissan is slated to unveil an “out-of-this-world concept” at the Hannover Motor Show tomorrow, but one of the company’s media partners has accidentally let the cat of the bag a little bit early.
While the information was quickly pulled, the company didn’t manage to get everything so we’re getting our first glimpse of the Navara Dark Sky concept ahead of schedule.
Looking decidedly rugged, the one-off concept is based on the Navara Crew Cab pickup and features an aggressive front fascia with a revised grille that is flanked by LED headlights. Further below, we can see a custom bumper with a plastic brush guard and a winch. The truck also features a skid plate and illuminated red accents.
The styling changes continue further back as the concept has extended fender flares, rock rails and massive wheels wrapped in off-road rubber. Other notable highlights include a roof rack, auxiliary lights and a custom livery that is presumably meant to resemble the night sky.
The concept’s most distinctive feature is its custom-built trailer which is apparently a “mobile space observatory.” Little is known about it at this point, but it certainly helps to explain the company’s cosmic-themed teasers and out-of-this-world hints.
There’s no word on what will power the concept, but the standard truck is available with a 2.3-liter turbodiesel engine that develops 157 hp (120 kW / 160 PS) and 297 lb-ft (403 Nm) of torque. The model can also be equipped with a twin-turbo 2.3-liter engine that develops 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque.
The Navara Dark Sky concept will be joined by another Navara tomorrow and it appears that version will be headed for production.
