Bugatti says that it is ready to extend its range of vehicles but hasn’t specified exactly what it has up its sleeve.
Speaking to Autocar during the Paris Auto Show, Bugatti chief executive Stephan Winkelmann said the reception to the high-performance Divo has encouraged it to grow the brand.
“Bugatti has never focused a car so much around dynamics, but the response to the Divo has been tremendous. Each car has been sold to an existing Chiron customer, and the allocation has gone immediately. That shows the passion for this brand,” Winkelmann said.
“That shows me that we are ready to do more. In terms of the amount of people we have who love the brand, I feel we have proved a lot. The next question is how much money do we have to invest into our future to make some of our ideas become reality – and will the return justify that investment. That is what we must work on.”
Talk about new Bugatti models is nothing new. In fact, the French automaker has reportedly been considering creating an all-new second model in the form of a high-performance SUV. Alternatively, there is still talk of a potential sedan being on the horizon. Rumors of such a vehicle were recently reignited when an image surfaced online appearing to show what looked like a four-door Bugatti at one of the VW’s design studios.
More recently, reports from Automobile Magazine claimed that Bugatti will extend the Chiron family by adding at least three other variants. The first of these will allegedly be a Chiron Superlight with an even greater focus on weight saving and aerodynamics than the Divo. The other two models could be a track-focused model dubbed the Chiron SS and a drop-top Chiron Aperta, while an all-electric hypercar may be on the cards, too.
