No, this isn’t the G31 5-Series Touring, but a digital drawing based on the all-new G20 3-Series. Still, if you think it looks a lot like the 5er wagon, then perhaps that’s a very good thing for the upcoming 3-Series Touring.
Based on spy shots, it’s clear that this car’s taillights will be pretty much identical to those found on the sedan, and since we know exactly what that one looks like, we can say that this render by X-Tomi Design should prove quite accurate when the real 3-Series Touring arrives.
As for when that will be, well, since the German automaker also unveiled the F31 Touring after the F30 sedan, we’ll most likely just have to wait a few more months until the G21 comes into focus.
When it does get here, it will most certainly be longer and wider than its F31 predecessor, which is great seen as how people who buy station wagons usually do so because they need the extra room, as opposed to what they get with four-door sedans. The G20 sedan is longer than the F30 by 85 mm (3.34 inches), and wider by 16 mm (0.63 inches). Its wheelbase has also grown by 41 mm (1.61 inches), so expect more of the same from the upcoming Touring version.
Unlike the sedan, the G21 Touring won’t have as many rivals to worry about on a global level. Other than the Audi A4 Avant, Mercedes C-Class Estate and Volvo V60, there isn’t anyone else to fend off.
