Earlier this year, we were treated to one very powerful Audi RS3 Sedan study, with an electric powertrain and a custom body kit.
Named the Schaeffler 4ePerformance Concept, it’s the work of Schaeffler, an automotive supplier that sponsors the Audi Sport ABT Formula E team.
It uses in-wheel electric motors on all four corners, which provide this heavily modified RS3 Sedan with a staggering, and instantly available, 1,180 HP (1,200 PS). Driving the electric motors is a 63 kWh battery.

Under full throttle, the Schaeffler 4ePerformance Concept goes from 0 to 200 km/h (0-124 mph) in under 7 seconds. By comparison, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante needs 8.9 seconds, whereas the latest Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a bit quicker than its Italian rival.
We haven’t chosen these names by chance, because the electric Audi RS3 met both of them on the track for a straight line fight. Keep in mind that the car on which the 4ePerformance Concept is based has three extra seats at the back, in stock form, and a practical boot behind them.
Now, before trying its luck against the two former Nurburgring record holders, the Huracan Performante and 911 GT2 RS, Schaeffler’s 4ePerformance Concept stretched its legs against an Audi R8. Needless to say that Audi’s supercar posed no threat to the electric concept.
