Skoda has officially dropped the first details on the Kodiaq GT, a compact crossover coupe destined for China, something we already knew was happening.
The vehicle has a sleek profile, differentiated by the sloping roofline towards the rear. It’s described as “a key driver of the brand’s image” and will serve as the company’s flagship in the People’s Republic, slotting above the Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq.
At the time of writing, Skoda hasn’t said anything else about the new Kodiaq GT, but they did preview it in a few official sketches. The renderings depict a couple of extra lights positioned beneath the main headlamps, the ‘GT’ moniker on the front doors, an angled tailgate with the ‘Skoda’ lettering in between the taillights, chrome detailing, two round exhaust pipes and a set of large wheels.

Earlier this year, Chinese media managed to get their hands on a few pictures with what appears to be the real deal. The crossover coupe is said to have an identical wheelbase to that of the regular Kodiaq, but is 63 mm (2.5 in) shorter, 1 mm (0.04 in) narrower and 27 mm (1.06 in) lower. Inside, it has seating for up to five adults.
Power should come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine, with 186 and 200 horses, respectively, paired to a dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox. Lesser models will apparently get front-wheel drive, although all-wheel drive will be present in higher trims.
