The McLaren Speedtail is the brand’s latest hypercar – and its design has raised more than a few eyebrows.
The Speedtail has a three-seat layout with a central driving position, just like the McLaren F1, and like the brand’s icon, shall be built in 106 examples.
Even if you can afford paying the £1.75 million ($2.24/€1.97 million) sticker price (excluding tax) in the United Kingdom, you won’t be able to secure a slot, as all units have already been spoken for, though we guess some cars and/or build slots will suddenly become available – for a premium, of course…
The first examples will be shipped to their owners in 2020, so we’re a long time away from finding out just how special the Speedtail is in real life. But with an ability to hit a top speed of 250 mph (403 km/h), and sprint from 0 to 186 mph (0-300 km/h) in 12.8 seconds, it’s the fastest McLaren ever.

Moreover, unlike the Senna, the new hypercar benefits from a hybrid powertrain that makes a combined 1,036 hp (1,050 PS / 773 kW). So, it’s 132 hp (134 PS / 98 kW) more powerful than the P1, not to mention a heck of a lot faster.
The Speedtail is offered strictly as a coupe. Nonetheless, it was expected that someone would rendered it as a Spider. In this case, the digital interpretation was posted on social media by FMPNick, and shows the obvious: a Speedtail with the roofed chopped off behind the A pillars, for a targa-like approach like the rest of Woking’s open top models. Although the company hasn’t even mentioned it as an option, and with the three-seat layout posing certain challenges in fitting a removable top, we think that it looks quite good.
Meanwhile, another designer, Aksyonov Nikita, imagined the British hypercar in different hues and color combos, including the Marlboro pattern. They are available in the image gallery below, and you can feel free and share with us which one would be your favorite.
