Ford F-150 Raptor buyers finally have the chance to get the V8 engine they always wanted.
It comes courtesy of Texas-based tuner Hennessey Performance and its new 2019 VelociRaptor V8 package. Revealed at the SEMA Show, the performance off-road truck ditches the Raptor’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 EcoBoost engine for a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces a whopping 758 horsepower.
Thanks to a 2.9L supercharger system with 7 psi of boost pressure, Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 engine unleashes 758 hp at 7,000 rpm and about 570 rear wheel horsepower.
The V8 conversion also includes Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, Ford wiring harnesses, ECU’s, fuel injector and fuel system upgrades, high-flow air induction, and more. What customers will care about the most, though, is performance and the VelociRaptor V8 has bags of it.
0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes just 4.1 seconds and Hennessey claims the truck can cover the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 115 mph (185 km/h). It should scare entire neighborhoods too with the rough sound of the V8 engine filtered by the stainless steel cat-back exhaust.
Performance aside, the 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor V8 package brings visual muscle as well. The conversion includes VelociRaptor bumpers, LED front lights, as well as Hennessey and VelociRaptor V8 exterior badges. That’s not all.
There’s also a Stage 2 off-road suspension with a six-inch (152-mm) lift kit and 20-inch alloy wheels shod with 37-inch BF Goodrich KM03 off-road tires. As for the interior, Hennessey went low key and only gave the VelociRaptor embroidered headrests and a serial numbered plaque. The engine bay features a plaque as well.
Since all of these things had to carry a price, Hennessey deemed it appropriate that the 2019 VelociRaptor V8 cost $147,950. The hefty sum includes a brand new 2019 F-150 Raptor and the conversion. If that hasn’t turned you off, you should hurry with the order because the company will only build 100 units for the 2019 model year.
