It hasn’t even been two years since Ferrari introduced the 812 Superfast to succeed the F12 Berlinetta. And by all accounts, it’s one beast of a supercar, capable of dicing it with the best of ’em. But eventually the Prancing Horse marque will need to replace it. And when it does, it could – maybe even should – look a little something like this.
It’s called the 8E8Hyperspeed, and it’s the work of one Sang-Hyuk Ahn – a graduate of the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, who was kind enough to share his design with us all on Behance. And to our eyes, it looks spot on.
Though clearly stylized as cars often look at this early stage in design, the proportions look just right, and the design elements, we’d say, look just where Ferrari should be headed next. Just look at those muscular haunches, the long hood and short deck, the contrasting silver roof, and the thin head- and taillights. Nice work, if you ask us.
Ahn says the vehicle could use an electric powertrain, and the 812’s successor could go hybrid. But to take the place of the Superfast, it’s going to need a V12 – and a powerful one at that.
The current model’s displaces 6.5 liters and produces a massive 789 horsepower (588 kW) and 530 lb-ft (718 Nm) of torque, sending the exotic supercar rocketing to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds on its way to a 211-mph (340-km/h) top speed. And at 1:21.5, it’ll lap the Fiorano test track next to the factory in Maranello almost a second faster than the old F12 Berlinetta, and just half a second behind the hardcore F12 TdF.
Those are big wheels to fill, and we don’t doubt Maranello’s next front-engined V12 supercar will raise the bar even further. Here’s hoping it looks this slick when it does.
