With a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 engine making 1,479 hp (1,500 PS / 1,103 kW) and 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm) of torque, the Bugatti Chiron is a fire-breathing monster.
It has the ability to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 2.5 seconds. And while its top speed is still a well-preserved secret, it’s more than capable of venturing deeply into the 400+ km/h (249 mph) territory.
Thus, it doesn’t have many rivals in the real world, which is why it has already scored a few wins against some other powerful machines. As for the latest adventure, the Chiron was challenged on a 1,000-meter (3,281 feet) run, from a 50 km/h (31 mph) rolling start, by a Mercedes-AMG GT R.

Surely, the stock German supercar would be no match for the Bugatti Chiron, but this example boasts 761 hp (771 PS / 568 kW) and 632 lb-ft (857 Nm) of torque from its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that was tuned by Renntech.
As per the tuner’s estimates, the extra 184 hp (187 PS / 137 kW) and 116 lb-ft (157 Nm) of torque is enough to help it sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.0 seconds. Also, it can run the quarter mile in 10.7 seconds, at 136 mph (219 km/h). So, on a good day, this Mercedes-AMG GT R has what it takes to put numerous supercars in their corners.
Things are obviously very different when it has to face a proper hypercar, such as the Chiron; as powerful as it may be, this Mercedes-AMG GT R is just no match for the Bugatti. But just to understand the difference between the two, we’ll tell you that the Chiron crossed the finish line at 328 km/h (204 mph) and the Merc at 276 km/h (172 mph).
