Cupra Ateca Teased By ABT For 2018 Essen Motor Show

The Ateca is Cupra’s first standalone model. The sporty SUV has already been unveiled and will arrive soon at different Seat dealerships in Europe, with its punchy 2.0-liter four-banger.

The petrol unit develops 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, which allows the Cupra Ateca to sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a very impressive 5.2 seconds, and up to a top speed of 247 km/h (153 mph).

In the meantime, ABT Sportsline has already tuned the Cupra Ateca. The German aftermarket specialist will bring the vehicle to the 2018 Essen Motor Show, which takes place between December 1 and 9, and they have released a couple of teaser images of it, which reveal a new wheel set and nothing else, at a first glance.

If we were to bet on it, we would say that ABT have focused their attention on the turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI. And by looking at some of their other projects, we could speculate that the Cupra Ateca has received an ECU tune that lifts the initial output probably by a few tens of horses.

Elsewhere, we expect ABT’s Cupra Ateca to wear the tuner’s logo on the grille and tailgate, and to have welcomed some minor work inside.

Electrifying the ABT stand at Essen will be the Audi RS6-E, an impressive take on the super estate, which has turned hybrid and has a whopping 1,018 PS (1,004 hp / 750 kW) and 1,291 Nm (952 lb-ft) of torque available on tap.

With its Glacier White finish, aerokit and 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW), the RS5-R will be displayed by ABT at the Essen Motor Show as well, alongside the 500 PS (493 hp / 368 kW) Viper Green RS3 and the 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW) VW Golf GTI Clubsport S Mk7, developed with H&R.
