With the world premiere of the all-new 2020 Porsche 911 just hours away, the German automaker continues to promote the car, which is scheduled to smile for the cameras in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 27 at 8 PM local time (10 PM EST).
Here, we can see former Formula One driver Mark Webber getting a taste of the new 911, performing a final trial run around the test track, alongside 911 engineer August Achleitner, who was keen to learn what Webber thought.
“In a word, that was awesome,” claimed the ex Williams and Red Bull Racing driver, while adding: “There are so many highlights. The wide front axle, for example, seemed to give it greater cornering performance and turning-in became even more precise.”
“The different front and back wheel sizes make a big difference to stability when you’re changing direction quickly too. As for the design, I love it: it’s very clear and typical Porsche,” concluded Webber.
The overall aesthetic of the 2020 Porsche 911 is far from a mystery, and despite a more significant overhaul of the rear end design, this 992 generation model still looks very much like most of its recent predecessors. Perhaps more exciting than its exterior appearance will be the updated interior, which will feature a new instrument cluster, new switchgear, a larger infotainment display and better quality materials.
As for performance, we know to expect a new eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, instead of the older seven-speed unit, while revised turbocharged flat-six engines are also in the cards.
