In less than 24 hours from now, India’s DC Design will drop the curtains and turn the lights on a new mid-engine sports car called the Avanti.
DC Design is named after its founder, Dilip Chhabria, a graduate of California’s Art Center College of Design who previously worked for General Motors before opening the Mumbai-based company in 1993.
One of the company’s most publicized projects –albeit for all the wrong reasons- is the Rolls Royce Coupe, nickname “The Black Ruby” (see here).
For the time being, we only get a single teaser image of the Avanti from DC Design’s website. However, Indian daily Business Standard reported that the sports car is expected to be powered by a Honda-sourced V6 engine fitted with a turbocharged with an output of around 400-horses.
Chhabria said that the Avanti would be priced somewhere around “Rs 30 lakh on-road”, or about US$56,000 / €43,000, and that his company aims to produce 300 units in the first year with plans to increase that number to 3,000 vehicles a year.
