A spectator race took place back in September at the New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, where the driver of a Ford Mustang lost control and slid into the barrier next to the finish line.
As a result, the airbags deployed and bits began to fly off the Mustang, whose driver was thankfully OK, managing to get out of the car without any help. He was however clearly shaken up – and, we guess, upset over what had happened.
Now, Mustang drivers have a bad rep, and in many cases, it’s for a good reason. However, this accident didn’t take place during a car meet and the driver didn’t try to impress bystanders. Things like these might happen when you’re pushing on a track.
As for the car, we figure that getting it fixed is a possibility, despite the airbags deploying and the considerably harsh right rear corner impact. However, we imagine that the guy’s insurance company isn’t going to be very understanding, seen as how the crash didn’t take place on a public road but in a circuit.
If you want to skip directly to the moment of impact, go to the 1:50 minute mark and wait for the camera to catch up with the action. Still, you might want to watch the entire video, seen as how there are a few interesting match-ups out there, plus some really loud engines.
