Since earlier this year, Subaru has launched a new Forester with a new exterior, roomier cabin and updated engine.
The longer wheelbase means plenty of space for rear passengers, who won’t have to struggle for headroom either, even in the middle seat.
Lots of storage spaces, including a phone bin, reclining seat backs at the rear, great visibility, plenty of soft materials and a very decent cargo area will make journeys more pleasant.

Optional kit includes just about everything one would expect, from the gizmos that enhance driving off the beaten path, to safety features such as DriverFocus, which alerts those behind the wheel of fatigue or distraction.
Even the most basic model gets LED headlights, active shutter grille, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 6.5-inch infotainment system and automatic climate control, among others, all for an MSRP of $24,295.
On the down side, the 2019 Forester is a bit noisy at higher speeds. But the composed handling, smooth ride and reassuring brakes, along with a quick-reacting CVT that’s paired to the 182 hp (184 PS / 135 kW) and 176 lb-ft (238 Nm) of torque 2.5-liter engine, make the commute a joy.
KBB recently went out in the new Forester, and found it to be “a special SUV-wagon kind of thing” that doesn’t disappoint. But we’ll let the reviewer talk us through some of the strong and weak points of the vehicle.
