With the exception of the X-Type, which the company itself is trying to forget, Jaguar is renowned for rolling out stylish cars. Owners are, of course, entitled to modify them in any way the see fit, though this first-generation XK with a pair of old Cadillac fins is, to our eyes at least, one step too far.
The extra appendages look like they were taken off a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, which was the model year where the U.S. automaker used this particular fin design with the chrome tubular inserts supporting the taillights.
Back in the mid 1990s, Jaguar marketed the XK series model as the XK8, since it was the brand’s first 8-cylinder model since the Daimler 250.
Now, whenever we see one, we can’t help but look back on a period when this car was considered to be extremely good-looking, which is why we agree with redditors that this image belongs on the forum’s dedicated thread for bad car mods. Actually, better make that very insulting car mods.
On a side note note, we are curious whether or not the convertible soft-top is still fully operational, since the mechanism on the XK8 left part of the roof exposed and protruding outwards a little bit toward the rear fenders. But that’s the least of this particular Jag’s problems.
