Genesis introduced the GV80 concept at the 2017 New York Auto Show and it appears the production model will be unveiled later this year.

According to Reuters, Hyundai Motor Group “heir apparent” Euisun Chung addressed employees on New Year’s Day and revealed Hyundai, Kia and Genesis will launch 13 new or facelifted models this year. Among them are a “premium Genesis SUV” and an all-new Hyundai Sonata.

Besides confirming plans for more than a dozen new or facelifted vehicles, Chung said Hyundai will launch an autonomous taxi pilot program in South Korea by 2021. Details about the service are limited, but the company is reportedly looking to “expand partnerships with leading players in that area.”

Getting back to the mid-sized crossover, the concept featured a prominent crest grille which was flanked by quad headlights. These same styling features have already been seen on prototypes for the next-generation G80.

Moving into the cabin, the concept had a digital instrument cluster and a curved 22-inch “infinity display” with two distinct zones for the driver and front passenger. Other highlights included semi-aniline leather seats, ash wood trim and polished metal accents.

We haven’t heard much about the crossover lately, but previous reports have suggested the model will ride on the same platform that underpins the next G80. The crossover is also expected to be offered with a couple of different engines. There’s no word on specifics, but the model could have a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 with around 365 hp (272 kW / 370 PS) and a 5.0-liter V8 developing approximately 420 hp (313 kW / 425 PS).

Less is known about the Sonata, but a possible prototype was spotted on the Nurburgring last summer. That particular car featured some styling cues from the Le Fil Rouge concept and appeared far more stylish than the current model.
