Even though it’s been in the making for the past three years, up until recently and unlike Toyota and its FT-86, Subaru had released very few details about its version of the rear-wheel drive sports coupe, named the BRZ.
Then all of a sudden, the Japanese company went from no news to a flood of information surrounding the BRZ.
Following recent news that the BRZ STI Concept is heading to this week’s Los Angeles Auto Show, and that the production model will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show in the end of November, today, Subaru announced on its website that the BRZ will represent the company at next year’s Super GT Championship in Japan.
Subaru said that the racing BRZ will compete in the GT300 Class, which probably means it will replace the STI Legacy B4. More information is to be released at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon, which takes place at the Makuhari Messe from January 13 to 15.
