For the second time in less than two months, a Carscoop reader has snagged pictures of a prototype version of the next iteration of the Hyundai Santa Fe, which will most likely be renamed to iX45 in select regions including Europe.
In September, it was Italian reader Landoni Corrado who photographed the Korean SUV while traveling in California’s Death Valley, and now these photos come courtesy of Alp Berker from half way around the world near Istanbul, Turkey.
And for those of you wondering what the Santa Fe test car was doing in Turkey, Alp tells us that Hyundai has a nearby plant in the Kocaeli Province.
The slicker and more premium looking new Santa Fe / iX45 is expected to be more tech-savvy than the current model borrowing several pages from the Sonata book.
The engine lineup will include Hyundai’s newest four-cylinder gasoline engines, possibly offering a turbocharged option.
It will also be offered in select regions with the South Korean firm’s just-announced R-2.0-liter turbo diesel engine rated at 150HP and 382Nm (282 lb-ft), which complies with the more stringent Euro6 norms.
Hat tip to Alp for the scoop!
