Here’s one more story of a repossession (as well as motherhood…) gone bad. Last week, an 11 year-old boy from Florida was…repossessed along with his mother’s car when a repo man towed away the vehicle he had fallen asleepsleeping in.
According to the police report, the boy’s mother, Elizabeth Tato, was inside a strip mall casino busy playing games when the incident occurred. Once she finished gambling at Winner’s Club, she came out only to find her car and child missing so she called 911.
Police said the tow truck driver was unaware that the child was inside the car sleeping when he took the vehicle. When he realized what was going on, instead of doing the right thing and calling the cops, he pulled over to a gas station, unhooked the car and left it along with the boy inside!
Luckily, the 11-year old was able to call his father who came and picked him up along with his step-mother, Aida Change.
“You don’t leave your boy, no matter how old he is, in a car by himself,” said Change. “And the repo man should have checked the car before he left with the car.”
While the boy’s mother told the cops that she was inside the casino for only about 15 minutes, a security guard told police that he thinks she was there for about an hour.
The police said that they are still searching for the company and the repo man responsible and that they have charged the boy’s mother with child neglect.
