If you own a Ford Focus RS and feel that its standard 350 horses aren’t enough, then you can call upon Mountune to extract more performance from the car’s 2.3-liter EcoBoost petrol unit, without ditching the standard turbocharger.
The tuner has developed two separate power kits, one dubbed the m400R (available as an upgrade for all existing m400 owners), whereas the other is the m400X. Both kits cost £595 ($776) and require hardware modifications.
“The Focus RS is a fantastic vehicle to drive and the platform responds extremely well to our performance upgrades,” stated Mountune exec, David Moore. “With these two kits the power and torque are now exceptional both in quantity and delivery. This is particularly true of m400X which turns the RS into something truly phenomenal. We are also proud to provide legacy m400 owners with a free upgrade to m400R. This will give them additional features and functionality and demonstrates the commitment we make to providing the best for our loyal customers.”
How much power are we talking about?
If you opt for the m400R package, that will take you to 400 PS (394 HP) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. You also gain m400R calibration, OEM Power, fuel economy calibration and a Valet Mode. Other features include the adjustable RPM limiter, full-time launch control, adjustable launch set-point, full-throttle gear change, tailored valet and anti-theft modes, dyno mode and full access to all OBD channels for custom gauges and data-logging.
Opt instead for the m400X, which retains the same horsepower level with the m400R pack, and you gain more grunt under both power and torque curves, and as a result “the pick-up, response and mid-range are all dramatically transformed.”
