Collection Seized By U.S. Marshalls Includes Some Amazing Bargains

Cast your mind back a couple of weeks and you may remember reading about the Gas Monkey Garage Ferrari F40 coming up for auction after it was seized by U.S. marshals. As it turns out, it wasn’t the only vehicle owned by shady Los Angeles parking lot operator Richard Scott.

According to NBC Los Angeles, Scott pleaded guilty to defrauding U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs out of more than $13 million while he operating parking lots in Los Angeles.

While living a life of crime, Scott acquired a huge collection of desirable cars, motorcycles, and even a Cigarette racing boat. He was forced to forfeit all the assets he acquired through the scheme as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors and required to pay $12.6 million in restitution.

The auction, which you can visit here, will close at 11 a.m. on February 11, 2019. The vehicles being auction off by U.S. marshals are very impressive.

Alongside the Ferrari F40, which so far has a bid exceeding $500,000, the auction is filled with classic muscle cars and modern supercars. For example, there is a 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti with a highest bid of $92,125, a black 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray going for a touch over $43,000, and a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG for the bargain price of $72,200. Other interesting vehicles in the auction include a 2015 Polaris Slingshot, 2013 Can-Am Spyder RS, and a 2014 Corvette 1LT Z51.

However, it’s not a car which we think is the best deal of the auction. It is a motorbike. More specially, a Ducati Streetfighter. The 849cc bike currently has a highest bid of $1425, despite retailing for almost ten times that amount back in 2010. Admittedly, it does have some damage and a salvage title but could easily be repaired and turned into a track-day weapon.
