Even though the new Up! city car won’t be arriving at dealerships before spring 2012, VW today released pricing details for the UK model and opened the ordering books. Pricing for the 3.5m-long three-door model with seating for four starts at £7,995 for the base version and rises to £11,180 for the top-of-the-line White and Black editions.

The Up! will be available with two 1.0-liter three-cylinder engines, with outputs of 60HP and 75HP, and three trim levels, plus two special editions.

The entry-level Take up! specification includes front and side airbags, ABS, rear ISOFIX child seat anchoring points, an audio system with aux-in port, body-colored bumpers, 14-inch steel wheels and daytime-running lights.

Moving up (pun intended…) is the Move trim level, which adds remote central locking, electric front windows, easy-entry seats with height adjustment on the driver’s one, 60:40 split and folding rear seats, variable-height boot load floor and body-colored mirrors and door handles.

For an additional £360 the Move is available with the BlueMotion Technology, which adds a fuel-saving auto stop/start system, battery regeneration and low resistance tires. VW claims that consumption is reduced by 6% and CO2 emissions fall below the 100 g/km mark (97 g/km), relieving its owner from the cost of road tax.

The High is the most luxurious edition, offering heated front seats, leather-covered steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever, electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, a choice of dashboard color, the Maps&More infotainment system, front fog lights and 15-inch alloy wheels.

At launch, VW will also offer two special editions based on the High model. The £11,180 Black and White variants are distinguished by their special pearl black or white metallic paints respectively, chrome mirror caps and door side strips, 16-inch alloy wheels, bespoke upholstery and mats as well as a body-colored dashboard.
