The team formerly known as Force India will race this season and beyond as SportPesa Racing Point F1 Team, after a group of investors led by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll rescued it from administration last year.

On Wednesday, the newly named team unveiled their 2019 car took at a launch event during the Canadian International Auto Show.

Known internally as RP19, the F1 racer features an evolution of last season’s BWT pink livery, while adding some blue in honor of new title partner SportPesa, a global technology and entertainment company.

Also new is the ‘point’ logo in pink, blue and magenta, introduced alongside new partners such as JCB, Bombardier and Hackett, all of which are visible on the car’s livery. Also present are Claro, Infinitum and Telcel, NEC, Canada Life and Acronis, among other brands.

“After months of hard work behind-the-scenes it’s incredibly exciting to come to Canada and present our new identity. The long-term aim is to take this team to the very top of the sport. We are putting the building blocks in place and it’s important we take a good step forward in 2019 as we begin this new era. We want to be fighting for podiums on merit and aiming for a strong top four finish in the championship,” stated team principal and CEO, Otmar Szafnauer.

As for who’s going to be getting behind the wheel this season, that would be Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll, the latter having raced for Williams last year.

The brand new RP19 will remain on display at CIAS in Toronto, where no fewer than 350,000 visitors are expected to arrive over the next 12 days.
