Following the release of the official trailer of its 26th season, Top Gear gave us another preview of what to expect from this year’s series.
In the released clip, Matt LeBlanc challenges Chris Harris in a race on an airport runway that happens to be bordered by the sea. The winner will be the one that hits the higher top speed before hitting the brakes and avoid going for a swim.
Matt has opted for the Ferrari GTC4Lusso, which is powered by the naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V12 with 680hp and 514lb-ft. Chris Harris on the other hand drives a Porsche Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo, which comes with 542hp and 567lb-ft of torque out of its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.
As for the stunning location, this appears to be the airport of Molde in Norway. Driving flat out down a runway that ends up in the sea must be one of the most daring stunts imaginable as it requires precise braking and a whole lot of faith in the car you’re driving.
Matt may have won this one but the onboard footage from inside the Porsche is one moment to remember. Watching the seafront approaching while Harris is trying to bring the 2-tonne Porsche to a complete halt is what someone would describe as a close one.
Top Gear returns with the new Series 26 on February 17.
