Lego Technic’s life-size Bugatti Chiron made quite a splash when it debuted late last summer.
It was subsequently brought to the Paris Auto Show in October and even joined the real Bugatti Chiron in November at the Zeithaus Museum in Wolfsburg, Germany. The plastic brick-made Chiron continues its tour of the world with a stop at the Canadian International Auto Show (February 15-24) in Toronto.
The folks from TheStraightPipes YouTube channel didn’t miss the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Lego Bugatti and filmed a detailed walkaround video that reveals the thing in all its awesomeness.
It may have just 5.3 horsepower and 68 lb-ft (92 Nm) of torque, but the Chiron is an amazing piece of kit. Especially since the modest amount of power and torque comes from 2,304 tiny motors from the Lego Power Function series, with the Lego Bugatti Chiron also using 4,032 Technic gear wheels to be able to drive.

Despite the fact that it’s made of more than one million Lego Technic pieces, the replica is lighter than the actual hypercar, tipping the scales at 1.5 tonnes (3,307 lbs). Obviously, it barely chugs along, reaching a top speed of just 20 km/h (12 mph). Given the power source, however, that’s an amazing achievement.
The doors actually open (with some prior preparation, though) to allow access into the equally spectacular interior. The Lego people’s attention to detail is insane — they even went as far as fitting their Chiron with a working retractable rear wing!
Of course, not everything is made of Lego pieces. The seatbelts are real and so are the wheels and tires. Check out the video for more on the Lego Bugatti, including first-hand information from the project’s design manager.
