Disturbing footage has just been released that shows a Tesla Model S running a red light at high speed and slamming into the side of an Infiniti SUV in Miami Beach.

The incident happened on October 21, 2018 and the video is hard to watch. Captured by a nearby surveillance camera, the footage shows the Model S speeding into view traveling at a reported 128 mph (206 km/h).

As the Model S approaches the red light, the Infiniti traveling in the opposite direction starts to do a u-turn in front of the Tesla. Despite the driver (or the Automatic Emergency Braking system) of the Tesla trying to bring the car to a halt and avoid a crash, the incident was inevitable. The Tesla rockets into the side of the Infiniti, sending the SUV tumbling over down the road.

Fortunately for all involved, an ambulance was waiting at the red light at the time of the crash and was on the scene within seconds.

Authorities report that the Tesla hit the Infiniti at 93 mph (150 km/h). All three occupants of the Infiniti suffered serious injuries, including one with a traumatic brain injury and another with spinal fractures. According to Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez, the Infiniti was almost cut in half by the Model S.

The 38-year-old driver of the Tesla, Hose Manuel Soto, surrendered to authorities on January 25 on three counts of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury.
