Renault is one of the few remaining mainstream automakers that have yet to adopt the use of vinyl wraps to cover up their prototype models from the prying eyes of spy photographers.
Nevertheless, primitive as cloth/plastic wraps may be, they do get the job done hiding the changes made to their cars like the facelifted Renault Megane hatchback and its station wagon counterpart named the Sports Tourer, that were caught testing in Southern Europe.
With the exception of the visible tail lamps, the pictures leave plenty to the imagination, however, we do know for a fact that Renault has begun applying its new design language to its current portfolio of models.
The first example was the restyled 2012 Twingo that made its world premiere in Frankfurt last week, and the Megane series is next in line.
We believe most changes will take place up front with the adoption of Renault’s new family grille with a slim opening incorporating the firm’s larger and more prominent logo.
Also, expect some minor styling upgrades at the rear and subtle improvements in the interior.
The refreshed Megane lineup should make its world premiere at next year’s Geneva Motor Show.
