Remember Italdesign’s teaser campaign for a new product? Well, this is it, and it’s just as stunning as we expected it to be.
The first image released is actually an official rendering, which highlights the shape of the car, with its long gullwing doors, aggressively styled front end, hood and side panels, and slim lighting units at both ends.
Italdesign’s latest project is finished in dark red, contrasted by the chrome window surrounds and black front apron, side skirts and rear diffuser that, in all likelihood, are out of carbon fiber. The vehicle has a sloping roofline, slim side mirrors and large wheels with a dual-tone look.
From what we can discern, the car appears to have a 2+2 seating arrangement and no free-standing infotainment screen.
The Italian coachbuilder, which is now part of the Volkswagen Group, didn’t say what powers it. However, given that the only visible fuel cap is on the left front fender, it’s quite possible that it uses some sort of electrification, being either a plug-in hybrid or perhaps a fully electric model.
We don’t know yet if it previews a production-ready car, but the company will release more details about it during the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, on March 5, at 1:30 pm CET (7:30 am EST). In the meantime, Italdesign wants to know if you like it, so you’ll have to take to social media and express your opinion.
