Ken Block’s Ford Escort RS Cosworth was destroyed in a fiery crash last year. Now, though, Block is ready to rock a Cossie once again.

The famous rally driver was competing in the New England Forest Rally in Maine in July 2018 when he hit a rock on the apex of a left-hand corner. The heavy impact jolted the car into the air, flipping it multiple times before it came to a rest in the trees and erupting in flames.

Shortly after the crash, Block defiantly said that he would drive an Escort Cosworth again and return to rallying with it. He is now one step closer to doing that.

The new rally machine looks like a classic Cosworth but has undergone a series of modifications requested by Block. For example, the front and rear wheel arches have been extended and a larger rear wing has been fitted. Additionally, there’s a new rear diffuser and a set of retro-inspired wheels.

Construction of the vehicle is still ongoing, but these renderings depict the vehicle with a head-turning Hoonigan Racing and Monster Energy livery that will make it stand out on any rally stage around the world.

Unfortunately, Block’s original Cosworth was so badly damaged in the fire that not a single part of it could be re-used. That means Block’s Cosworth is a new car fitted with bespoke components.

Once it’s ready, Ken Block will embark on a World Tour. He will first make a stop at the 100 Acre Wood Rally in Missouri next month, head to Rally Whangarei in New Zealand in May, the Donegal International Rally in Ireland in June, Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, Gymkhana Grid in Poland in September, Rally Legend in San Marino in October, and potentially Rallye International du Valais in Switzerland.
