Aston Martin stormed the Geneva Motor Show with two new concepts and now the company has released a new teaser video of the DBX.

Filmed at Pirelli’s testing facility near the Arctic Circle, the clip shows the DBX tackling extreme winter conditions in northern Sweden. Aston Martin says the Flurheden Proving Ground is ideal for putting the model through its paces as it allows testers to evaluate the crossover on snowy roads and icy handling courses.

As Aston Martin Chief Engineer Matt Becker explained, the “DBX needs to be ready for a wide range of multi-terrain surfaces, so in addition to testing the car in normal day-to-day situations, we need to test it in extreme conditions such as these.” He went on to say the arctic conditions helped them to “assess the car’s early dynamics and crucially ensure confidence inspiring sure-footedness on low grip surfaces.”

Aston Martin has been tight-lipped about technical specifications, but the model is expected to use a Mercedes-AMG sourced twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. It produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 505 lb-ft (685 Nm) of torque in the Vantage and we can expect similar numbers in the DBX.

Of course, the biggest difference will be the addition of a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. Little is known about it, but the system should provide plenty of grip while also being focused on delivering sporty handling.

The DBX will be unveiled in the fourth quarter and it will be built at the company’s new St Athan production facility in Wales. Becker also noted, “Progress is on-track and I am confident that we will deliver, over and above, what our customers would expect from an Aston Martin SUV.”
