You didn’t think that we were done with Porsche’s new 991 series after the presentation of the 911 Carrera and Carrera S coupes, did you? Of course not.

This is only the beginning of what can only be described as an avalanche of sub-models that will follow in the coming years and which will see the addition of a variety of bodies (Coupe, Convertible, Targa and Speedster), drivetrains, engines and special editions.

One of the new models currently being prepared by Porsche’s engineers is the 911 Turbo S Convertible, which was once again spied testing in Germany, this time, with its ragtop on.

The huge inlets you see in front of the widened rear wheels feed air to Porsche’s twin-turbocharged flat-six, which in S form is estimated to deliver somewhere around 550-horsepower.

A standard seven-speed manual-gearbox or Porsche’s optional seven-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission will handle the delivery of those ponies to all-four wheels.

A start-stop system combined with the lighter weight of the 991 series should help improve fuel consumption and reduce CO2 emissions.
