Aston Martin Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly recently took to the streets of Tokyo prior to this year’s F1 World Championship opener in Australia.

The event was held along Jingu Gaien Gingko Avenue in Japan’s capital, with Verstappen and Gasly driving a pair of RB7s through the streets. They put on a high-octane show for spectators, performing donuts, burnouts and treating the audience to the growl of the naturally-aspirated V8s.

This was the first car event Red Bull Racing has held in Japan since 2011. The event was particularly special since Japanese car giant Honda is supplying the F1 team with its engines this season.

Pierre Gasly is making his debut with the senior Red Bull team this year after competing with Toro Rosso in 2018. The youngster is particularly familiar with Japan having previously spent a season racing in the country’s Super Formula series. Max Verstappen is now the team’s senior driving following Daniel Ricciardo’s move to Renault.

“It’s the first time I’ve done a showrun here in Tokyo, and it was great,” Verstappen said.

“The course wasn’t that long, but it was still fantastic because there were so many fans here and we could do a few donuts too. The support here is generally crazy and now with the combination of Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Honda together, it’s just amazing. To see that many fans rocking up for a showrun is great and in Suzuka later this year, the support should be incredible.”

The Red Bull RB7 was raced by the racing outfit in the 2011 Formula One season and won both the Constructors’ and Drivers’ championships.
