After winning multiple world championship events on several stages, Toyota Gazoo Racing will now try their hand at e-Motorsports, launching the new GR Supra GT Cup for the PlayStation 4 game console.

This marks Gran Turismo Sport’s first global one-make series that’s set to debut on April 14. Aside from that, the Toyota subsidiary will also become an official partner of the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships, an online competition series.

For Toyota Gazoo Racing, this is more than just about creating entertainment. The company actually plans to invest heavily in e-motorsports and also want to use the experience and feedback from the initiative to “support their mission to build ever-better cars in the future.”

The GR Supra GT Cup will run from April to August 2019, with preliminary online rounds held worldwide, before the finals event at the Tokyo Motor Show this October. In order to participate, you need to be six years or older and own Gran Turismo Sport for the PlayStation 4. You can find out how to join the cup right here.

As for those who just want to follow the action, they can catch the live broadcast on the official Gran Turismo YouTube channel. The opening event is dubbed FIA Gran Turismo Championship World Tour 1 and will take place on Saturday, March 16, in Paris.

Meanwhile, the GR Supra GT Cup will be announced at a panel session, with Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital, and Toyota GR Supra chief engineer Tetsuya Tada both in attendance.
