A new Vantage Roadster is coming our way, and it seems that it won’t be long before Aston Martin introduces it to the world.

Speaking to Car Advice in Australia, Aston Martin chief creative officer Marek Reichman said that work on the drop-top Vantage is complete.

“It’s ready and waiting. We’ll show it towards the end of this year. They’re going through some of the final testing, [but] the car’s all done,” Reichman said.

It comes as no surprise that a Vantage Roadster is coming as the British car manufacturer consistently follows up its new coupe models with convertible variations. The previous-generation Aston Martin Vantage Roadster had a soft-stop and its successor is expected to retain this solution despite the popularity of folding hard-tops.

When the new Vantage Roadster does launch, it will be powered by the same (Mercedes-AMG-sourced) twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 as the coupe, which puts out 503 hp and 505 lb-ft (685 Nm) of torque and is coupled to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. That’s enough to send the Vantage coupe to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, but given the added weight of the Vantage Roadster it will probably be a couple tenths slower off the line.

If there’s one Vantage model which we’re looking forward to more than the Roadster, it would have to be a new V12-powered version. Car Advice quizzed Reichman about the possibility of a new V12 Vantage, but the executive simply laughed and said “it would be a good idea.”
