Texans loves trucks and Ram is rewarding their loyalty with two exclusive pickups.
Unveiled earlier today at the DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) Auto Show, the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty Lone Star pickups will be available exclusively in Texas.
Styling changes are relatively minor, but the trucks have a number of chrome components including the grille, bumpers and door handles. The models also have halogen headlights, 18-inch steel wheels and a unique “Lone Star” tailgate. Rounding out the highlights are standard tow mirrors, an electronic trailer brake controller and a Class V receiver hitch.
The Lone Star editions will be available in a variety of configurations including Regular, Crew and Mega Cab body styles with either a 6 foot 4 inch or 8 foot bed. Customers will also be able to order an assortment of options including LED headlights and 20-inch wheels.
Moving into the cabin, there’s unique Lone Star badging and “premium cloth seats accented with new interior finishes.” Ram also revealed there will be an optional package which adds a power driver’s seat and an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system.
Power comes from a standard 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that produces 410 hp (306 kW / 416 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. The trucks can also be equipped with a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel six-cylinder engine which develops 370 hp (276 kW / 375 PS) and 850 lb-ft (1,151 Nm) of torque. 3500 buyers can step up to a high output diesel which has 400 hp (276 kW / 406 PS) and 1,000 lb-ft (1,354 Nm) of torque.
The Lone Star editions will go on sale in the second quarter and pricing starts at $37,645 for the 2500 and $39,095 for the 3500 (excluding a $1,695 destination fee).
In a statement, Ram boss Reid Bigland said “Trucks are a big part of life in the Lone Star State” and the “Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star edition is a powerful, hard-working truck that meets the demands of Texas truck buyers.”
