Between tweets which can get him in trouble, Tesla chief executive Elon Musk does like to have fun on Twitter and just hours before April Fool’s Day, released his first rap track. No, your eyes are not deceiving you. Musk has ventured into the world of rap.
For his debut release, Musk released a track titled ‘RIP Harambe’ on Soundcloud. The track is dominated by auto-tune and obviously references the shooting of Harambe, a 17-year-old gorilla that was killed at Cincinnati Zoo in mid-2016.
Musk tweeted out the track to his millions of followers with the caption ‘Emo G Records.’ The cover art for ‘RIP Harambe’ shares its theme with Dr Dre’s classic 1992 album The Chronic.

As the track is so heavily reliant on auto-tune it’s actually hard to know if Musk himself is the only one whose vocals are featured. Lovers of memes will probably flock to the song but we cannot imagine it receiving a Grammy Award or anything like that. But hey, we’re not music critics so who knows.
Shortly after releasing ‘RIP Harambe’, Musk also changed his Twitter name to ‘Jung Musk,’ perhaps in reference to Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung (pronounced ‘Young’). By doing so, Musk now has a rap name which could resonate with the younger generation, much like Young Thug and Young M.A.
Do we think Elon Musk, sorry Jung Musk, should forget about Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, OpenAI, and Neuralink for the pursuit of a rap career? That probably wouldn’t be the best idea.
