While America gets the 2019 Subaru STI S209, Spain marks the end of the road for the fourth-generation WRX STI with a special Final Edition model.
And special it is as only eight units of the Subaru WRX STI Final Edition are available. Six of them wear the iconic WR Blue Pearl color, while the remaining two feature Crystal Black Silica Paint. All eight cars ride on identical 19-inch wheels with a gold finish that reminds of Subaru’s golden era in the World Rally Championship.
Other visual upgrades on the outside include a massive front splitter, a grille with red trim, and chrome exhaust tips. Inside, the WRX STI Final Edition welcomes passengers with a steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, red engine start button, and STI-branded floor mats. Topping it all off is a commemorative plaque on the center tunnel that proves the car’s limited edition nature and a matching keychain that’s also numbered.
Standard equipment is generous and includes keyless entry and start-up, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with a power of 440 watts, rearview camera, blind spot warning, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlights.
There’s no mention of any mechanical upgrades, so it’s safe to assume Subaru left the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer untouched. That means it delivers 300 PS (296 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 407 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque at 4,000 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive are standard.
If you live in Spain and want to snatch one of the eight WRX STI Final Edition models, there are two things you should do: hurry up, because Subaru has already opened the order books, and have €57,500 (about $64,700) available.
