A prototype of what appears to be the 2020 Karma Revero has been snapped while recently testing in California.
The following shot comes from Carscoops reader Frank Olea. While it is difficult to confirm the vehicle’s identity as the new Revero, it certainly shares a number of commonalities with the Revero which have been revealed in recent teaser images.
Most notably, the car pictured has a very similar long and slender shape to the new Revero and appears to have a gargantuan wheelbase and a very small rear overhang. In addition, the roofline and shapes of the side windows all match up with what we’ve seen of the 2020 Revero. Karma Automotive also happens to be based in California so it would make sense for the company to be testing its new model locally.
Thick body cladding covers the vehicle’s front and rear fascias but the hood appears to be quite long. A pair of aggressive headlights can also be seen peeking through the camouflage.
We’re told that the significantly revised 2020 Karma Revero will come with a redesigned electric powertrain which incorporates a lithium-ion battery pack and a twin-motor rear drive module. This setup will apparently send the Revero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.
Another significant upgrade found within the new Revero will be the presence of a BMW-sourced TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine which doubles as a generator. The BMW i8 also uses a three-cylinder engine which pumps out 228 hp and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque but it remains to be seen if this is the same engine the Revero will have.
Karma will unveil the new Revero at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Hat tip to Frank Olea!
