Ford has revealed a new, limited run of the Fiesta ST, dubbed the Performance Edition, which will be available only in the UK market in just 600 examples.
The new Fiesta ST Performance Edition aims to offer an even sharper driving experience, thanks to the inclusion of a bespoke Ford Performance coilover suspension pack that features stainless steel damper housings and powder-coated Ford Performance Blue springs.
It also comes with a set of 18-inch 10-spoke lightweight flow-formed alloy wheels, which are 7kg (15lbs) lighter than the standard wheel set. The new wheels are finished in a high-grade, triple-layer ‘Magnetite’ paint.
Ford will offer the new Performance Edition of the Fiesta ST only in its three-door bodystyle and finished in a very eye-catching Deep Orange. The powertrain remains the same, meaning a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost with 197hp (200PS) and 214lb-ft (290Nm) of torque. 0-62mph (100km/h) takes 6.5 seconds, while top speed is 144mph (232km/h).
According to the company, the new coilover suspension has been “extensively tested” at the Nurburgring by its Ford Performance engineers, dropping the ride height by 15mm at the front and by 10mm at the rear. Drivers can fettle with the setup, too, as it offers 12 bump settings and 16 rebound settings.
The new Fiesta ST Performance Edition is based on the ST-3 trim and comes with features such as LED headlights, a B&O audio system, a Quaife limited-slip differential, launch control and shift light indicators as standard.
While official pricing for the new hot hatch will not be announced until next month, Ford says that the Fiesta ST Performance Edition will carry a premium of at least £3,000 ($3,900 in current exchange rates) over the standard ST-3 list price. Sales are set to begin in June, with first deliveries to start in early September.
