Infiniti has released the first two official images of the Qs Inspiration sports sedan concept before the vehicle premieres at the Shanghai Auto Show. The release of these photos come shortly after a plethora of photos of the car were leaked online by a Chinese publication.
Generally speaking, the design of the Infiniti Qs Inspiration concept is quite similar to that of the QX Inspiration Concept from January’s Detroit Auto Show. Of course, the QX Inspiration Concept was an SUV so the Qs Inspiration does benefit from a slightly sleeker profile fitting of a sports sedan.
The future of Infiniti design looks promising
The concept is believed to inspire the next iteration(s) of the Q50 and/or Q70 sedans. One of the more eye-catching elements of the Qs Inspiration is its face that does without a traditional grille. Instead it’s dominated by a large Infiniti badge and text. The LED headlights are also very thin and unobtrusive and simply melt into the surrounding bodywork.
No pictures of the vehicle’s rear have been officially released by the car manufacturer but the aforementioned leaked images did show off thin, horizontal taillights and an elongated rear window.
Infiniti has yet to detail the concept’s powertrain other than saying the sports sedan “features a low-mounted powertrain and potent e-AWD system engineered to thrill drivers with instantaneous acceleration and sustained power delivery.” Evidently, this powertrain will be all-electric but the size of the battery pack and the number of electric motors remains anyone’s guess.
Speaking about the vehicle, Infiniti chairman Christian Meunier said, “For 30 years, Infiniti has built a reputation for introducing new technology that delights and gives confidence to drivers. The age of electrification presents us with an opportunity to renew our credentials as an innovative challenger brand, ready to move quickly and decisively in this growing and exciting area of the market.”
