Geely has just launched an all-new, electric vehicle brand in China dubbed ‘Geometry,’ adding yet another member to its stable which already includes the likes of Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Lynk & Co, 50 percent of Smart, and more.
Geely says the new brand will launch 10 all-electric vehicles by 2025, including sedans, SUVs, crossovers, and MPVs.
Geometry was launched at a dedicated event in Singapore yesterday, where its first model, the Geometry A, was unveiled. If it looks familiar, that’s because it was launched only last month as the Geely GE11, but it has since morphed into the Geometry A.
The EV will be sold in two configurations, one with a battery pack with a capacity of 51.9 kWh, while a model with a 61.9 kWh battery will also be available. Geely says the standard range version has a combined NEDC range of 410 km (254 miles), while the long range model can travel up to 500 km (310 miles) on a single charge.
Both the standard and long range Geometry A feature a single permanent synchronous magnet motor that produces 120 kW (160 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, which is enough to send the models to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.8 seconds. The Geometry A also includes a ‘Fast Charge’ feature that can see the battery charged from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.
Safety was a key priority for Geely when creating the Geometry A. Consequently, the car includes Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, a Intelligent High-Beam Control System, a Collision Warning System, and the company’s front and rear moving object detection system. The vehicle also has tech like high-resolution cameras and precise radars, to offer Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, including lane keep assist and lane change assist.
Orders of the Geometry A have already topped 27,000 units, and 18,000 of these have come from countries outside China, including Singapore, Norway, and France.
Prior to receiving tax subsidies in China, prices for the Geometry A start at 210,000 RMB or $31,250 USD and increase to 250,000 RMB ($37,200 USD) for the range-topping Long Range model.
