If you belong to the original Hummer fanbase, then Mil-Spec Automotive will have you salivating with its latest H1.
This is the sixth H1 that comes out of the Detroit-based company, which specializes at overhauling the off-roaders with extreme attention to detail.
Mil-Spec’s “#006” is based on a 1996 slant-back H1 and features a tactical-inspired design. The vehicle was completely disassembled and rebuilt with much tighter tolerances; even the factory seam-sealed floorpan was replaced with a fully welded aluminum unit, making the interior a much quieter place and saving some weight, too.
“Six really is the culmination of everything our company has learned over the past four years restoring both the military and civilian model Hummers down to the smallest detail,” comments Mil-Spec Automotive CEO Adam Mitchell. “These trucks offer so much potential and really are amazing platforms for a company like ours to come in and re-engineer as well as redesign them as bespoke builds for enthusiasts looking for something completely different.”
One of the highlights of the build is the adjustable Air-Ride suspension, which increases ground clearance when needed. The most important change, though, is the new powertrain, a 500hp 6.6-liter Duramax diesel paired to a six-speed Allison automatic and upgraded part-time two-speed transfer cases. The brakes comes from Wilwood, featuring 12.25-inch slotted/drilled rotors.
The interior is also completely redone and chassis #006 comes with two-tone black leather with marine-grade canvas accents, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and its own fitted luggage set.
The overhauled Hummer H1 is finished in Deep Sky Black textured spray-on polyurethane material infused with Kevlar to make it more durable against scratches, with black semi-gloss detailing, heavy-duty bumpers, an aluminum snorkel and a 60-inch LED lightbar mounted above the windshield.
If you wonder what Mil-Spec Automotive is charging for this particular Launch Edition (the first out of 12), the answer is a cool $295,039.
