The 2020 Gladiator, Jeep’s first pickup truck in 26 years, has finally arrived as the market’s most configurable and off-road capable model of its segment.

You would think that the new Gladiator is just a Wrangler with a bed, but Jeep didn’t choose the easy way. Compared to its sibling, the new Jeep pickup truck features not only a longer by 31 inches (787mm) but also a stronger frame and wider tracks.

The new 2020 Jeep Gladiator also features bigger axles, brakes, wheels and suspension with longer rear arms in order to provide better on-road handling and towing ability. Speaking of which, you can tow up to 7,650lbs (3,470kg).

Under the bonnet of the new Gladiator lives the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that makes 285hp and 260lb-ft (352Nm) of torque and is paired either to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is of course standard. A diesel engine will also become available next year.

Perhaps the highlight of the new Jeep Gladiator is its removable top, making it the only convertible pickup truck in the market. Options include both a removable hard top and a soft top while the windshield can be folded down in true Jeep fashion.

The Straight Pipes had the chance to review the new Gladiator both on- and off-road, giving us their feedback in their latest review.
